About the FSSP

The Priestly Fraternity of St Peter (FSSP) is a Clerical Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical right founded by Pope St John Paul II in 1988. The mission of the Fraternity is two-fold: firstly, the formation and sanctification of priests; and secondly, the pastoral deployment of the priests in the service of the Church (currently serving in 129 dioceses on 5 continents). The Fraternity’s priests are devoted exclusively to the Traditional Liturgy of the Roman Rite. With the approval of the Holy See and the permission of local bishops, the Fraternity’s priests provide for the full sacramental life for the faithful, administered according to the liturgical books of 1962. If you are interested in discerning a vocation to the FSSP, please visit here.

The FSSP has been active in the UK since 1998. St John Fisher House in the Diocese of Portsmouth was canonically erected on 1 August 2010, St Cuthbert’s House in Archdiocese of Edinburgh on 8 Jan 2011, and Most Pure Heart of Mary House in the Archdiocese of Liverpool on 26 December 2015. Currently these three apostolates accommodate six priests (brief biographies here). Each month FSSP priests visit Ireland for a week to offer Masses there.

FSSP England is a Limited Company (No.06852978) with charitable status (Registered Charity No.1129964). Our official name is Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Petri Ltd. We also use the official working name FSSP England.
