Who Are We?
The Priestly Fraternity of St Peter (FSSP) in England is a Limited Company no.06852978 and a Registered Charity no.1129964. Our official name is Fraternitas Sacerdotalis Sancti Petri Ltd. We also use the official working name FSSP England.
Data Protection
Data Protection has a basis in natural law, being required by the virtues of justice, discretion and courtesy. If these natural goods are respected, grace can build upon them. In May 2018 new data protection laws come into effect in England & Wales. From then charities will be held to the same high standards as other public bodies and businesses. The law requires and we intend that your privacy should be safeguarded by design and by default.
Legal Basis
The legal basis for FSSP England to collect, store and use people’s personal data is twofold in accordance with Article 6.1.a & Article 9.2.d of the General Data Protection Regulation, namely consent and legitimate interest. As our work is inextricably bound with people’s religious affiliation, the latter basis requires our “data processing relates solely to the members or to former members of the body or to persons who have regular contact with it in connection with its purposes and that the personal data are not disclosed outside that body without the consent of the data subjects”.
New Database–You Control Your Data
As of 2018, we are replacing our old database with a new one to allow data subjects to control their own entries. With the Charity Commission our aim is defined as: “Pastoral support to laity and clergy in England and Wales, through parochial ministry, retreats, training sessions, publications, pilgrimages and spiritual guidance. Special charism: the Extraordinary Form of the Roman rite (Roman Catholic Church).” For the legitimate interests of this charitable aim, FSSP England stores on a secure database such details as our registered users submit to us, for example via the “Manage Profile” option on this website. Normally this includes name and email address in order to register, plus whatever further information is volunteered by the user, for example postal address and / or telephone number(s). Where pastorally useful, we might append brief biographical comments.
Of course not everyone likes to use or has access to the Internet, so we will retain the options of people supplying their details by post, telephone or face-to-face. In any case, our plan is to make a transition in 2018 from our old database, which is to be deleted, to this new one constructed with a clear record of consent for each entry.
We will not share your information with third parties, except for the purpose of mailing Dowry Magazine or our bulletins according to your subscriptions.
Members of the Confraternity of St Peter
For members of the Confraternity of St Peter (CSP), we retain a record of your name, address, date of birth and date of enrolment, as provided by you on your application form, for as long as is required for the purpose of administering the confraternity. As we remember deceased members in our prayers, their names and dates are also kept, including date of decease. Former members and those who wish to withdraw from the CSP may have their contact details deleted by contacting the Chaplain of the Confraternity. As the CSP is an international body, the administration of data may be carried out by the FSSP outside of the UK. However we will not share your details with parties other than the FSSP.
Banking Information
We do not store the financial / banking details of those who make donations to us, although there will of course be a record of transactions (donor, amount, date, reference) on our bank statements / Paypal statements which we keep for accounting purposes.
Right to be Forgotten / De-register
You may change or delete your details at anytime. If you choose to de-register you whole record will be deleted from our database. Subscriptions to our electronic bulletins through Mailchimp may be ‘unsubscribed’ by the user at any time.
Children
Users of this website must be at least 13 years-old to register an account. Users who are not yet 18 years-old should obtain parental consent to register.
