FSSP Gregorian Chaplaincy turns…

This Saturday 19th July, on the feast of St Vincent de Paul, come and give thanks for fourteen years since the FSSP ministry in the Northampton diocese was established as a chaplaincy on 19.VII.2011.

Chaplaincies are official Church structures set up to better serve the needs of specific groups of Catholic faithful according to geography, age, ethnicity or other, e.g. migrants, students, prisoners, military, sick, sailors, etc. To meet the pastoral, liturgical, and spiritual needs of Catholics drawing sanctification from the traditional liturgical books and customs of the Church, many bishops have appointed FSSP priests as chaplains.

We are grateful to Bishop David Oakley of Northampton and his predecessor Bishop Peter Doyle for having provided this concrete and official framework within this diocese.

For further reading, see Code of Canon Law, ##564 to 572.

Members of our twin congregations from Bedford and Chesham Bois travelled to Walsingham for our annual Chaplaincy pilgrimage there on Sat 12th July. They presented the petitions of our Chaplaincy to the Mother of God and Queen of England.

Welcome to FSSP Seminarian James this Sunday in Chesham Bois as he spends time home with his family in Hemel Hampstead after a busy First Year at our American seminary in Nebraska.

A healthy attendance last 9th July at holy Mass on the feast of the two columns of Catholic England, Sts John Fisher and Thomas More. Thank you to all who brought drinks/cheese to celebrate afterwards.

Four babies baptised in 24hrs: Congratulations to David and Theresa Clayton, and to Vincent and Alix Grimer on the holy Baptism of their respective children Ruth and Christopher scheduled on 12th July. And to Luke and Laura Flahive on the holy Baptism of their newborn twins William and Lucy on 13th July.

Bees in the nave in Kempston: please be aware that the bees at All Saints are in the process of being removed, but we cannot guarantee that it will be completed by Sunday morning. The hazard seemed limited last Sunday as bees all kept to the ceiling and high windows, but be on your guard, especially with children.

Perhaps the bee item above is a good opportunity to remind all to have to cover their bodies in church out of modesty (if not against insects). In this warm weather, we all enjoy lighter clothing. But the usual customs apply for women and men as well. Thank you. 😊 Here are a few practical guidelines based on traditional Church guidance:

Neckline: A dress cannot be considered decent if the neckline is cut more than two inches below the pit of the throat.

Sleeves: Dresses should have sleeves that extend at least to the elbows.

Coverage: The dress should fully cover the bodice, chest, shoulders, and back.

Length: Skirts should reach below the knees.

Marylike Dresses Gift Card

In addition, wearing Sunday best at Sunday Mass is a traditional way of celebrating the day of the Lord (avoiding t-shirts, sport shoes, casual wear.)

Thank you for your consideration.

Great turnout for First Saturday Adoration, Rosary, holy Mass and picnic last 5th July in Kempston with over 80 participants.

Well done Regina Caeli Academy for yet another year of sound Catholic teaching to our little ones. What a superb end-of-year fete we had last Thursday, after holy Mass and imposition of the scapular of Mount Carmel!
