Bedford – Activities
FSSP Chaplaincy Masses in Bedford:
Men’s Group:
For any men 18+ one Wednesday evening per month at Our Lady of Ransom, 8:00pm, after the 7:15pm Low Mass and Confessions. Bring and share your favourite beer or wine (or tea) before the doctrinal talk by the priest, or during the Questions and Answers time.
Ladies’ Group:
For any ladies 18+: one Saturday midday per month at Our Lady of Ransom, 1:00pm, after the 11:30am Low Mass and Eucharistic adoration with Confessions from 10:00am. Bring and share lunch (or tea) before the doctrinal talk by the priest at 2:00pm, and stay on for Questions and Answers after.
Sacramental Preparation:
We will hold classes two Saturdays per month from January 2025 onward. Email us as soon as possible the names of candidates for First Holy Communion to take place on Corpus Christi Sunday, 22 June 2025. The same frequency is planned for Confirmation classes starting in January until June, ahead of Saturday 4th October 2025 when Bishop Oakley will confer the sacrament.
Please inform one of the FSSP priests if you or your child(ren) would like to begin preparation for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion or Confirmation. Similarly for those interested in being received into the Catholic Church or preparing for Holy Matrimony.

Youth Group:
For unmarried men and women 18+: launched on Saturday 30th November. Meet by 11:00amat Woburn public car park on Park Street (X9QM+H8 Milton Keynes or https://maps.app.goo.gl/NVHEd8GR7idH3RbaA). Walk across Woburn Abbey deer park, followed by lunch at nearby pub (e.g. the Woburn Arms) with informal chat, with clergy in attendance. If you live near Chesham Bois or Bedford please email attendance and lift need and lift offer (malleray@fssp.org). Your friends from outside Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire are most welcome!
Altar Serving:
book with Seminarian Luke for a practice (l.j.mazurek@pm.me) for a one-to-one, or one-to-a-group, either at St Alban House, or at Our Lady of Ransom, or in Chesham Bois, or at your house if transport for Luke can be arranged. There is scope and skills for such practices to take place every week tailored to your circumstances. (The usual safeguarding rules apply if minors take part in the practice.)
Scout, Guides, Cubs, and Wolvets Groups:
Twice a month. See www.gseuk.org. Whereas the Bedford-based Scout of Europe activities are distinct from the Bedford FSSP Chaplaincy, our clergy is regularly involved and most families attend the FSSP Chaplaincy Masses.
Regina Caeli Academy:
Providing hybrid education in the Catholic tradition, based south of Bedford in Meppershall. See www.rcahybrid.org.uk.
Whereas RCA is formally distinct from the Bedford FSSP Chaplaincy, our clergy is regularly involved for holy Masses, confessions, and catechism, and most families attend the FSSP Chaplaincy Masses.
Other:
In addition to the Chaplaincy activities, lay members of our congregation meet regularly at events organised on a yearly basis such as a barn dance, a pilgrimage; or on a monthly basis for adults’ meetings or children’s excursions. Join our various WhatsApp and Signal groups to be kept updated.
