New Model of Classical Education for Catholics–8th September

REMINDER: Public Meeting this Saturday

Click the image above for the Eventbrite page facilitating this meeting

After some extremely good feedback from families after the information event in April, we have made some excellent progress – we’ve secured a venue, we have a board of directors, and we intend to launch in September 2019.

Come along this Saturday 8th September (2018) to find out more about Classical aducation and the curriculum we will use, from someone who has used it for their own children! Venue: Unity Hall, Barton Scouts and Guides, Sharpenhoe Road, Barton-le-Clay, MK45 4SD. For sat navs, please use the postcode, MK45 4LQ, rather than “Unity Hall”, or else you’ll be led to the entrance on Sharpenhoe Road which isn’t accessible for cars.

1:30pm Welcome and introductions
1:45pm Classical education and MODG – Helen Harrold
2:30pm How it will work in the UK
2:45pm Break
3:15pm Q&A session answering the questions
4:00pm Wrap up, crowning of Our Lady and Salve Regina

Ticket costs [book here] will go towards the travel and accommodation expenses of the speakers, as well as the hire of the venue.

Any questions, please let us know! Or call Justin on 07884 001 977 or Grace on 07817 974 018.

Kind regards,

The RCA board

Catechism Day–Sunday at Christ the King

A reminder that tomorrow–Sunday–is Catechism Day at Christ the King. The programme can be seen here.

The aim is to cover 2,000 years of Church History in 20-30 minutes (for each age group). Such a task is possible by considering the Saints through the centuries, and the way they characterised various epochs in the life of the Church. (See the scheme below.)

There is now a flood of confusion and evil coursing through the Church. To remain on the Rock Who is Christ, we are assisted by knowing the Saints, knowing Church history, knowing Who the Church is.

The 2018 Summer Camp for boys, under the patronage of St Peter, got underway on Monday. We are at a new location this year, in Bollington on the edge of the Peak District. The theme for the camp is the True Devotion to Mary of St Louis Marie Grignon de Montfort.

You can see photos of the camp at the Flickr page.

Please pray for the success of this camp and for all the participants.

CALL THE DRONE!

Great aerial pictures and video of targetted Priory and former School in Warrington:
(thanks to expert team Tony & Fin!)

Help us buy back the former Benedictine Priory in Warrington (the two attached Georgian houses along Buttermarket Street aligned with church on the left of this picture) and Priory Court at the rear (the detached longer building at the bottom of this picture, where former St Mary’s School used to stand).

As you can see, both buildings are part of the same triangular compound as St Mary’s Church and current Priory (the modern looking smaller rectangular building surrounded by garden) – both legally owned by our charity. Unless we gather GBP1.5m by mid October 2018, the owner will turn the two other buildings into one-bedroom flats.

Instead, we have a great opportunity to buy them back and create a dynamic Catholic hub around our beautiful Pugin church! Please email Fr Rector if you can pledge money: malleray@fssp.org.

Please forward this news, and may God bless you!
