Safeguarding: If you have concerns about children or vulnerable adults, please contact the Archdiocesan Safeguarding Department: m.robson@rcaol.org.uk or 0151 522 1013, or speak with Clare Fraser, St Mary’s Safeguarding Officer. Thank you for your awareness.

New Shrine staff: We welcome as Secretarial Assistant every Wednesday morning Mrs Kelly Williams, who attends St Mary’s Shrine with her family. She brings a wealth of experience as a former parish secretary in another diocese, and can be contacted at stmaryssecretary@fssp.org. She will assist our Shrine Administrator Mrs Jane Wright, who remains with us working on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

On behalf of St Mary’s community, let our lay staff be thanked for their hard work behind the scenes.

Welcome home to our seminarians from the UK & Ireland on their post-Christmas break: in particular David from Warrington, and Tom, Conan and Benjamin. See great seminary pictures here: http://fsspwigratzbad.blogspot.com/.

Please pray for many more priests! Visit https://fssp.org.uk/about-the-confraternity/.

New Year: two separate Plenary Indulgences applicable to oneself or to a holy soul in Purgatory can be gained by praying or singing in church: 1)The hymn Te Deum (Baronius p. 96) on 31st December in thanksgiving for the year past; 2) The hymn Veni Creator (Baronius p. 712) asking graces for the year starting.

In addition to performing the work (praying one of the two hymns above), the three usual conditions apply: 1) to be in the state of grace with no attachment to sin even venial, 2) reception of Holy Communion the same day, 3) to pray for the intentions of the Sovereign Pontiff. Please note that what is meant here is not the periodical intentions of the reigning pope published by the Holy See which one is welcome to pray at any time. For an indulgence, “intentions of the Sovereign Pontiff” means: the spiritual good of the whole Church, encompassing: the liberty and exaltation of the Catholic Church and the Apostolic See, the extirpation of heresies and the conversion of all who are in error, the concord of Christian Princes and the peace and unity of all the faithful.

Blessing of Epiphany Water on Thur 5th Jan: bring and drop by little organ before the 12:10pm Mass plastic containers filled with water and labelled to your name (to take home after) for the Blessing to begin right after 12:10pm Mass: lasting about from 1pm to 2pm.

Congratulations to Jack and Chelsey Rigby, a young couple who was received into the Church on 22 Dec after nearly a year of preparation.

Married one year, they are expecting their first child any day now.

Picture below: ritual blessing of an expecting mother.

Reminder: there is an ongoing stream of adults knocking at St Mary’s door to be instructed in the Catholic faith by our priests. If you know any, be sure to encourage them. Pray for the three adults ladies who have just started receiving instruction, and for more about to commit. Also pray for those received over the past year or more: that they may be deeply rooted in their Catholic identity, faith and practice.

Also, pray for four young adults who are having Marriage preparation to get married next summer, please God.

Thank you for your lovely cards, and generous gifts in cash and kind, and for your prayers. A very special thank you to all those who helped prepare this Christmas: church cleaners, singers and musicians, altar servers, flower arrangers and Christmas tree adorners, cooks, and more.

This past Christmas, St Mary’s Clergy offered 15 Holy Masses from midnight onward. You and your intentions were very much remembered at the altar.

Shrine expenses grow quicker than income. This is not surprising since our parishioners are affected by the economic difficulties. However, if you are in a position to contribute personally or to alert benefactors on our needs, even though they don’t live in Warrington, please share our bank account details below with them this Advent and Christmas.

Thank you for helping us through the Offertory collection and standing orders. Should any parishioner be in serious financial difficulty, let them contact the Shrine clergy confidentially.

Support St Mary’s Shrine: send your donation via our Donate page: https://fssp.co.uk/donate/. Ask us for a Gift Aid form to increase your donation by 25% at no extra cost to you. Gift Aid envelopes can be obtained from our Secretariat. Standing orders are easier and quicker for us to process than cash: Lloyds Bank; Sort Code: 30-80-27; Account number: 30993368. Account name: FSSP Warrington

St Mary’s viewed from America: Rachel Schrader, British-born Catholic journalist who visited us last September wrote a great article on St Mary’s Shrine : https://www.goodcatholic.com/the-british-bells-of-st-marys-an-american-finds-home-on-an-english-street/.

We were sent this slim but informative book offering timely distinctions within a complex question: https://osjustipress.com/…/does-traditionis-custodes…. A very useful read for anyone seeking clarity about the disputed status of the traditional Roman liturgy after “Traditionis Custodes”.

Does 'Traditionis Custodes' Pass the Juridical Rationality Test?

Priory Court Project: please pray for an important decision to be made shortly, please God.
