☞To receive Holy Communion: one must be a Catholic, in state of grace, one-hour fasting at least. In the EF liturgy, Holy Communion is received kneeling (unless unable to) and always on the tongue. Thank you in advance.

Please pray for the 7 young men attending our Vocation Discernment Weekend 25-27 Jan. 2019, Warrington. We had 19 new priests ordained worldwide in 2018, and 18 ordained in 2017.

We give thanks for 1 new priest from the UK ordained every year over the past 4 years, and more generally for 11 of them ordained over the past 16 years: Fr Konrad Loewenstein in 2002; Fr Brendan Gerard in 2006; Frs Matthew Goddard and William Barker in 2009; Fr Simon Harkins in 2010; Fr Matthew McCarthy in 2011; Fr Ian Verrier in 2015; Fr James Mawdsley in 2016; Frs Alex Stewart and Krzysztof Sanetra in 2017; Fr Seth Phipps last 9th June. The Role of the Family in Building a Culture of Life: Second Annual Retreat Saturday 9^th February

for young (18+) Catholics in healthcare and young (18+) Catholic adults.

Adults curious to know more about Catholicism? Join our Saturday evening group of catechism for adults: most Saturdays 6pm-7pm, with Fr Loewenstein. We are very glad that 7 adults have been coming regularly to learn about the Catholic faith and be received into the Church.

This will take place, please God, on Sunday 23^rd June, external solemnity of Corpus Christi. The new Catholics will receive First Holy Communion that day (with other candidates). All are invited to pray for them and to join the Eucharistic procession across town that afternoon.

Two weeks later, on Thursday 4^th July 2019 at 7:00pm, they will receive the sacrament of Confirmation from His Grace Archbishop Malcolm McMahon, OP of Liverpool, at St Mary’s Shrine.

Betrothal ceremony: Congratulations to Mr Matthew Stankiewicz from St Helens and Miss Gemma Drury from Colchester, who will be betrothed at St Mary’s on Monday 21^st January, 12 noon. Please pray for the young couple as they formally begin preparation to the sacrament of Matrimony.

SYNOD 2020: On Sunday 3^rd February at 3.00pm, the Archbishop, at a special service in the Cathedral, will celebrate formally the calling of a Synod for the Archdiocese of Liverpool.

PRIORY CAMPAIGN: By the end of January, a pre-planning application process should hopefully confirm the change of use from ‘Business’ to ‘Community’, enabling our trustees to decide which part of the building(s) to purchase.  Meanwhile, further donations are gratefully received, as we have only 1/3 of the asking price.
