St Mary’s Sunday Bulletin 8 May 2022
Largest trad pilgrimage 4-6 June in France: Join 15,000 young(ish) pilgrims! Providentially, after 2 years of interruption due to Covid, the dates this year coincides with the UK Jubilee Bank Holiday, allowing many more Brits than usual to take part. Currently the Covid travel regulations are nearly disappeared (with just one single negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours or an antigen test result taken within 48 hours pre-departure, and no further test either in France or back in England; nor any quarantine). Arrival in Paris by Friday night 3rd June, for departure from Paris early morning on Saturday 4th June at St-Sulpice Church. Walk 70 miles. Only carry the light items you need for the day, while heavy stuff remains in your suitcase loaded on Pilgrimage trucks. Pilgrims communal tents and troughs available and breakfasts. Bring your own lunches and suppers. Arrival in Chartres on Monday afternoon 6th June, with pontifical high Mass in the cathedral. All liturgies in the traditional form. Contact Michael Hall to book with the English Chapter: m.hall@talk21.com. There is also an Irish Chapter. |

All must dress modestly in church out of reverence for God and of respect for fellow-worshippers. Women are encouraged to wear a veil or mantilla. Tops must cover bodies down to elbows and skirts at least below knees. No shorts, no t-shirts, no leggings. In addition, on Sundays and feasts Sunday best should be worn by all: i.e. suits or jackets and ties for gentlemen, dresses for ladies. Thank you.
We love having young children around in church and we thank parents for inculcating their little ones the respect owed to the House of God, and to secure recollection for fellow-worshippers. Parents are welcome to give exuberant children a break in the Narthex or outdoors if needed, especially during the Canon of the Mass and homily.
To receive Holy Communion: one must be a Catholic, in the state of grace, one-hour fasting at least. In the traditional liturgy, Holy Communion is received kneeling (unless unable to) and always on the tongue. Thank you in advance. Kindly switch OFF your mobile phone before you enter the church.
Safeguarding: If you have concerns about children or vulnerable adults, please contact the Archdiocesan Safeguarding Department: m.robson@rcaol.org.uk or 0151 522 1013, or speak with Clare Fraser, St Mary’s Safeguarding Officer. Thank you for your awareness.
Preparation has started for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation (from Archbishop Malcolm McMahon OP at St Mary’s on Sat 2nd July 2022, 3:00pm.)
