(St Agnes, Virgin & Martyr, pray for us!)

Pray for Henry, Tom and Conan, our three First Year seminarians from England and Ireland as they begin their second semester at Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, where our other UK seminarian Emmanuel studies. Fr de Malleray will give the semestrial retreat to our seminarians in Europe next month in Bavaria where Gwilym and Miklos, our other seminarians from the UK, study.

Educational Initiative Regina Caeli Academy – coming soon to the North of England!

A number of families in the North of England have been observing with interest the formation of the Regina Caeli Academy in Bedfordshire over the past 18 months and are exploring setting up an academy in the North of England, with a view to opening in Sep 2020. The exact location of the academy would depend on the families who wish to attend, but is expected to be between Newcastle and Leeds. www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/regina-caeli-uk-29170853539

Our new Priory buildings give hope for increased educational opportunities at St Mary’s. A meeting here will be announced soon for all those interested (please suggest dates.)

The Men’s group weekly is going strong with about 20 attending every Wednesday evening (7pm Low Mass; 8pm Talk; 9pm prayers). Any men 18+ welcome, including non Catholics. On 22nd Jan, talk by Fr de Malleray on ‘Catholics and Oaths: to Hitler, Henry VIII, etc.’

Pray for 11 young men staying at St Mary’s on 24-26 January for vocational discernment. Thank you to the ladies helping us with cooking and cleaning.

£298.40 raised for babies last Sunday at the White Flower Appeal. SPUC expresses thanks to St Mary’s Shrine and parishioners for their generosity.

‘A Hidden Life’, rare Catholic film by Terrence Malick. We warmly recommend watching this film about unsung hero, Blessed Franz Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War II. When the Austrian peasant farmer is faced with the threat of execution for treason, it is his unwavering faith and his love for his wife Fani and children that keeps his spirit alive.
