Let us pray for our valiant pilgrims gearing up for the yearly Pilgrimage of Christendom from Paris to Chartres on Pentecost weekend. They will carry the intentions of our congregations in Bedford and Chesham Bois to the oldest Marian shrine in the world, where the veil of Our Lady is venerated. We pray for the up to 20,000 pilgrims and all the organisers, volunteers, clergy, religious, who are preparing for this major Catholic event. Fr Coelho will accompany the Chaplaincy delegation.

Wish you were there, but cannot? Learn more here about how you can be formally enrolled in the non-marching chapter, praying with and for the pilgrims even though you are not able to travel to France.

The Concept

A DIFFERENT KIND OF PILGRIMAGE

A different way of pilgrimage is offered to all those who are unable to walk to Chartres for various reasons (family, school, professional or religious obligations, age, physical condition, hospitalization, expatriation, etc).

A WORLDWIDE CHAIN OF PRAYER

During the 3 days of Pentecost, in France and abroad, people of all ages and from all walks of life unite spiritually with the Chartre pilgrims in a missionary spirit.

UNITED WITH THE WALKERS

Guardian Angel pilgrims take part in a common process of penance, conversion of hearts, sacrifice and apostolate.

In the communion of saints, through the Marian prayer of the rosary, they pray for the great intentions of the Church, call for the restoration of the reign of Christ the King over the Nations, and reciprocally carry the intentions of the pilgrimage and their own, which will be deposited on Whit Monday at the feet of Our Lady of the Pillar in Chartres Cathedral.

Annual Chaplaincy pilgrimage to Walsingham on Sat 12th July. Save the date and register interest with Rita. We will give thanks for 14 years (minus a week) since the establishment of the Gregorian Chaplaincy (19 July 2011) by Bishop Doyle. The schedule will be similar to last year’s, with holy Mass, picnic & free time, talks, holy mile, and visit to the Priory ruins. Visit fsspengland on flickr.com to see the great pictures of last year’s Chaplaincy pilgrimage. Book separately with the Shrine if you want to stay the night before or after.

Five new priests on 28 May: please pray for Michael Caughey, Matthew Jagas, Steven Kalinowski, Ronald McCann, and John-Francis Sulzen who will be ordained to the sacred priesthood at our American seminary. More priests will be ordained at our European seminary on 28 June. Fr Coelho will represent our Chaplaincy there.

Twelve new deacons on 31 May: please pray for candidates Stjepan Androic, Duarte Cabral Moncada, Jacopo Maria Calloni, Jan Celmer, Henri Constant, Simon-Xavier Danielsson, Géraud de David-Beauregard, Benoît Faivre, Miguel Medeiros Cardoso, Aleksander Nozdryn-Płotnicki, Matyáš Razím, Clemens Maria Reithofer, and Péter Uhel.

Fundraising lay initiatives in support of FSSP Chaplaincy: we thank the participants in the Spring dance last 26th April who kindly donated £180 in support of our ministry – we also thank the organisers, in particular the Tyldesley family. We thank the Moxham family and other participants who made Easter items put for sale after Easter. Finally we thank the John family and other participants who raised £120.00 through a bake sale. We also thank our dedicated team at the second-hand books stall, most Sundays after Mass, whose proceeds also go to the Chaplaincy.

In addition to their financial merit, all such initiatives foster fraternal interaction among the members of our congregation, and enable people to contribute not only through prayer but though such concrete means as well. Well done and thank you!

Interest was expressed for all-night Eucharistic adoration as a one-off. We are now exploring feasibility. Please contact Bridget [nibridget3@gmail.com / 07442 341655] to register interest for one hour or more, on one single night. The likely schedule would be on a weekday evening, this summer, from about 9pm to 6am or 7am, probably with Mass at the start or end. To make sure the Lord does not remain without adorers, we require three adults booked in at every hour, especially during the night. Feel welcome to suggest an intention for that night of adoration, e.g. pro-life, Gregorian Chaplaincy, families, RCA, Pope Leo, etc.
