Sat 9:00am-9:55am. And during or around Holy Mass when possible, including in Chesham Bois.
Our Lady of Walsingham has become a pilgrim in her turn as her statue is now entrusted to one household in our congregation at a time, for veneration during a week, until passed on by the chaplain to another household. Book your week on the sign-up sheet after holy Mass this Sunday.
The major feast of the Ascension of the Lord falls this week on Thursday 5 May.
It is one of the few days of obligation. This means that every able Catholic must attend holy Mass on that day, just as if it were a Sunday. Due to shortage of clergy, we will only be able to have holy Mass in Bedford at 8:00am, and in Chesham Bois at 7:00pm. Please take your dispositions to attend one or the other, or some other Mass more convenient for you and your family to travel to. If you or members of your household are genuinely prevented from attending holy Mass on Thursday 5 May, then you are dispensed from the obligation and you incur no sin; but you must take extra time at home to pray on that day, preferably through reading the prayers of the Mass from your missal for the feast of the Ascension.

Sunday Coffee under threat… We need more volunteers to help with tea and coffee after the Bedford 8:30am Sunday Mass, or this may not be able to continue. Help to tidy the hall at the end of tea and coffee would also be welcome.
Kindly volunteer now: bedford@fssp.org
We are looking for more female and male adult volunteers for the Scouts of Europe: if you are interested please contact Robert on 07947698195 and robert543@gmail.com.
Second collection for sick FSSP England priests this weekend at the end of our two Sunday Masses. Divine Providence who works in mysterious ways permits that two out of six of the FSSP priests posted in England are chronically sick. Pray for Frs Ian Verrier and Alex Stewart who are still out of pastoral ministry after years. As we know, through offering up to God their sufferings, they do serve the FSSP ministry in England, as would sick lay people do, albeit in a less measurable way. Of course our charity still needs to support them financially, not a negligeable cost for such a small entity as us in England. Thank you for helping us to do so.
Thank you for your generosity two Sundays ago with the second collection for the training of FSSP seminarians (currently 6 from the UK & Ireland): £358.95 were raised between Bedford and Chesham Bois.
About one hundred adults and children took part in the successful Spring Barn Dance 2024 organised by George and Heather Tyldesley on 27 April. Participants travelled from far and wide, including Reading, Bedford and Chesham Bois. Traditional English country dances were taught by an expert dance master, and ably performed by all (after some practice). In preparation, some children had helped cut out and colour beautiful flowers used later on to decorate the hall. It was a very enjoyable occasion and a valued opportunity for members of the FSSP Northampton congregations to spend time together in an extra-liturgical setting. We look forward to next year’s edition.
