CONFESSIONS TIMES

Our Lady of Ransom (for anyone): Sat 10:00am-11:15am, and 20mins before every weekday Mass. At All Saints: during Sunday Mass in the room behind the organ. Chesham Bois: after the Sunday 12noon Mass if not before.

Have you tried the best confessional in town?

After months of work (because our carpenter lives away from Bedford) the confessional at Our Lady of Ransom is now completed. You may recall that it afforded insufficient confidentiality, especially in a small church like Our Lady’s, Kempston. Using the parish room was not suitable either. So, with permission from the Parish Priest, we undertook extensive work on the existing confessional, consisting of building up a full door on the confessor’s side (instead of a curtain), filling holes in the ceilings of the compartments (we can still breathe!), installing seals along the frames of the two doors, and applying acoustic sheets on every wall and ceiling of the two compartments. Thankfully it worked: unlike before, words spoken in low voice inside the confessional cannot be understood outside. (Out of discretion however, please refrain from sitting in the pews near the confessional when in use.)

The significant cost of £1,500.00 for the soundproofing of the confessional seemed justified to us, as we really wished to facilitate access to Confession, the great sacrament of God’s mercy (especially with no built-in confessional at All Saints on Sundays.) Come and try it!

 Novena and solemn renewal of the Consecration of the FSSP on February 2-11, 2025

We ask all the faithful who are close to us to join in this novena of preparation February 2-10, 2025 and to renew the consecration on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, February 11, 2025.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

This Tuesday, 11^th February, please unite with us, saying at church or at home the Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart. [Text below.]

Juventutem monthly gathering (18-35) on Friday 14^th Feb at Oratory of St Mary Magdalene, 96 North Side Wandsworth Common SW18 2QU. After 6pm confessions, Fr de Malleray will preach on dating and courtship at the 7pm Mass of St Valentine, Priest and Martyr, followed by 8pm social.

Give us your blessed palms from last Palm Sunday to be burnt into ashes ahead of Ash Wednesday.

Our Sunday Hall at All Saints:

Thank you to the volunteers preparing the hall, doing the tea & coffee, and tidying up after. All are encouraged to pop in into the hall after Sunday Mass as it is an important opportunity to socialise and build up the community. More volunteers are needed: can you offer 90mins (10:00am-11:30am) one Sunday a month?

Reminder: if you intend to receive Holy Communion on Sundays at All Saints in Kempston, as you walk into the church before Mass you must take one host from the plastic box and put it in the bowl (not the other way round). Failing to do so deprives fellow-parishioners from their own Holy Communion as not enough hosts are consecrated.
