CONFESSIONS TIMES

Our Lady of Ransom (for anyone): Sat 10:00am-11:15am, and 20mins before every weekday Mass. At All Saints: during Sunday Mass in the room behind the organ. Chesham Bois: after the Sunday 12noon Mass if not before.

Very Rev. John Berg, Superior General of the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter, was very pleased with his visit to the Gregorian Chaplaincy. He offered holy Mass on Ash Wednesday at Chesham Bois, and on the FSSP feast of St Thomas Aquinas in Bedford.

On both occasions he stayed to greet parishioners. He also met with Bishop David Oakley in Northampton, who approves of our raising funds to acquire a stable place of worship in or near Bedford.

Fr Berg prayed with the Bedford FSSP clergy in the house chapel,

whose four “choir” stalls were full for the first time since Holy Week last year.

Fr Berg also went on a clergy excursion to Wrest Park, south of Bedford,

where special training in bowling took place.

Most beneficial Lenten penance: attend a holy Mass once on weekday. Circle your chosen date:

My Week 3: 24―25―26―27―28―29 March

My Week 4: 31 March―1―2―3―4―5 April

My Week 5: 7―8―9―10―11―12 April

My (Holy) Week 6: 14―15―16―17―18―19 Apr

A confessor awaits you in our state-of-the-art soundproof confessional 20 minutes before every weekday Mass at Our Lady’s in Kempston.

Thank you to the benefactors who covered the significant cost of £1,500.00 for the soundproofing of the confessional at Our Lady of Ransom. The main benefactress does not live in England but she follows the FSSP Gregorian Chaplaincy with interest. She said:

Let us now make frequent use of our improved confessional, especially this Lent.

Lenten reading: discover the hidden riches of the medieval Marian hymn Stabat Mater presented by Fr de Malleray in his booklet available at CTS: www.ctsbooks.org/product/meditations-on-the-stabat-mater/ for £4.50. Join our Blessed Mother at the foot of the Cross of her Son and walk with her on the road from life to death to eternal life, by meditating upon the Stabat Mater line by line.

Booking forms for this year’s summer camps (for children 10-17) will be available shortly. The boys’ camp will be 4-9 August, and the girls’ camp, 11-16 August. They will once again take place at Savio House, Bollington, in the Peak District.

Well done older RCA pupils who attended their first day of silent recollection at Buckden Towers last 7 March, with the three FSSP clerics preaching and offering Mass.

Interest was expressed for a couple of excursions, one to Colwich Abbey where the traditional Benedictine nuns have  settled, and another to Walsingham as a pilgrimage like last year.

With weekends being already booked for many of us until after Easter, it may be that those events will take place in the late spring or early summer. Feel welcome to email Rita Carroll your preferred dates.
