Fr Michael Murphy RIP. In your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr Michael Murphy, who died peacefully on 11 April. A priest from the Southwark archdiocese (in Streatham Hill and as such, Fr de Malleray’s neighbour in Clapham Park from 2001) Fr Murphy had retired in Warrington, his hometown. He was a great supporter of St Mary’s Choir and Music. Among other involvements, he had sponsored organ formation for one of our young adults and was considering enrolling another in the organ program. He also helped meet the costs of the LiveMass installation and sanctuary alarm at St Mary’s. A member of the Warrington Arts Council, Fr Murphy was well known in town, where he eagerly promoted culture and social interaction.

He was rarely seen wearing clericals and some of those who knew him may not have realised his status as a retired priest. He would still help out however, as priest chaplain on cruises and, closer to us, in a parish south of Warrington. He also joined the FSSP clergy on a couple of occasions for some clergy meals. His funeral will take place at St George’s Cathedral in Southwark. We at St Mary’s will also have a Mass of Requiem for him (details to be announced soon). May he rest in peace.

Thurs. 19 April 1pm-3:30pm: Monthly Family Catechism Day. All families welcome.

Weekly Family Day: As soon as further DBS checks are completed, our monthly family day will occur weekly. After our usual 12.10pm Mass, there will be a picnic and 2 afternoon classes following a set curriculum. We will end with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament before joining (those who wish) the Junior Choir practice. Info/contact: Alison Kahn penketh.kahns@gmail.com

Young Adults Group: Sat. 21 April, 1pm-4pm.

Talk by Fr Verrier on

‘Where do we come from? How did we come to be in our present state? Where are we going?’ based on Genesis 1-3.

Rosary on the Coast: 29 April 2018, 3pm-4pm.

St Mary’s Shrine will host the Living Rosary for Life, Faith and Peace at 3pm on Sunday 29th April 2018. Litanies of Our Lady and homily. Veneration of a large-scale replica of the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Website: rosaryonthecoast.co.uk

Easter duty: to be absolved from any grave sins in confession individually by a priest and receive Holy Communion at least every 12 months, preferably around Easter.

☞ Did you know?

St Mary’s Shrine costs £1,444 a week to run and maintain. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

GA envelopes labeled to collect from Narthex.

Please do subscribe to this scheme, so that less of your gift be spent in admin cost and more in helping St Mary’s.

Indeed, if you Gift Aid using the ‘one-off’ envelopes in the pews, our secretary needs more time to process more data. If you Gift Aid via the regular scheme, it is quicker for us to process, and thus your money is put to better use.

Help us minimise admin & maximise your giving:

The box sets of GIFT AID envelopes for the new tax year will be available for collection shortly. Anyone who is a tax payer and a regular user of the occasional Gift Aid envelopes (those left on the benches) and would prefer their own set of dated and numbered, Sunday Gift Aid envelopes, should contact Jane Wright in the Shrine Office warrington@fssp.org
